Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was, on Sunday, March 23, momentarily prevented from departing the ACK Cathedral in Nyeri town.

In footage viewed by porojomtaani. co. ke, the crowd was observed assembling outside the church engaging the locals in a fierce disagreement that necessitated the action of police officers.

Earlier today, ex-Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu turned to social media, asserting that a group of criminals had gathered outside to set a trap for the former Deputy President.

“So, criminals out of our church have been mobilized from Mathira to wreak havoc when HE Rigathi comes out of consecration of Bishop Mureithi at ACK Cathedral, Nyeri Town,” the post read.

“One more of those strange schemes to confront RiggyG that merely enhances his own myth further.”
The criminals however started to gather while the former Deputy President was inside, and according to internet reports, they then attacked the others present.

Several unidentified people were reportedly injured in the altercation as well. This was not the only anomaly that happened at the event; some Kenyans on social media also claimed that Kenya Power had sabotaged the event by switching off the lights. On the verge of clearing itself of the allegations, Kenya Power promptly explained that the notice had been issued the day before and that there was a scheduled power outage in Nyeri town for maintenance.

“Hello, sir. Please take note that, per the announcements on our platforms, certain parts of Nyeri County and the surrounding area were scheduled for maintenance today, March 23. The response to an online critic said, “This is intended to enable the supply of constant and reliable power.”

At ACK church where political activities were prohibited beginning Sunday, March 16 but Gachagua was present.

A week prior during the church service, ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit declared that in the future, political figures would solely be introduced and permitted to wave in all ACK churches across the nation.
