
The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised the citizens of Kenya to prepare for substantial rainfall in various regions of the country from Friday, March 21, to Tuesday, March 25.
In its weekend rainfall advisory issued on Friday, March 21, Kenya Met cautioned individuals residing in the Highlands East and West of North-Eastern Kenya, the South-Eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Lake Victoria Basin should prepare for heavy precipitation.
Significant rainfall was predicted for the Highland East counties of Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi.
According to the weather service, precipitation in the counties specified above is anticipated to begin specifically in the afternoon and be accompanied by thunderstorms.
The identical weather pattern was anticipated in the Lake Basin and Rfut Valley counties of Siaya, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo-Marakwet.
Additional counties that were also forecasted to experience heavy rains include Nandi, Nakuru, Narok, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, and West Pokot.
While significant rainfall was anticipated in the majority of regions in Kenya, the counties of Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta, along with the inland segments of Tana River, were projected to receive moderate showers.
Mild rain was also anticipated in the eastern counties of Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo, as well as in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu, and Kwale.
In the five-day weather outlook, the Kenya Meteorological Department further warned residents residing in Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka, and Nairobi to prepare for extremely cold nights.
According to the forecast, temperatures in the aforementioned counties were predicted to decrease to 8°C for the initial two days before increasing to 9°C for the remainder of the period.
Today the Kenya Meteorological Department predicted increased daytime temperatures in Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii, Nyamira, Trans Nzoia, Baringo, Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and Nandi.
Additional counties anticipated to endure severe heat throughout the day included Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo.
